Area Structure Plan (Approved 2011)
Land Use Redesignation (Approved 2011)
The Prairies’ Area Structure Plan encompasses over 390 acres of land and is envisioned as a collection of great residential neighbourhoods that builds on the vitality of the Town of Strathmore. The backbone of all Prairies’ neighbourhoods is a walkable design; an integrated system of great streets, regional trails, and pathways. Design of the open space system establishes character and creates a sense of place through providing both active (i.e., pond skating, running, cycling) and passive (i.e., walking, sitting, reflecting) amenity areas. Open spaces are complemented by improved wetlands, trickle-creeks, and retained habitat areas for water fowl. The Prairies’ offers a range of housing types providing choice and meeting a cross-section of lifecycle needs. Supportive local shops, services, and live-work opportunities will meet future residents’ everyday needs and provide employment opportunities.
