West District

The comprehensive 95-acre West District Master Plan consciously trades sprawl for urbanism on the last large parcel of land yet to be built-out on Calgary’s west side.
Envisioned as a higher-intensity, mixed-use, compact and transit-supportive node, the transformative plan led by CivicWorks will ‘re-tool’ suburbia, offering genuine live/work/play lifestyles while sensitively intensifying the number of people and jobs in the region.
Fully built-out, West District will add approximately 2,500 dwelling units, 4,600 new residents and 3,600 jobs—all within a human-scale low to mid-rise built form.
Neighbourhood features include a 7-block long active main street, an integrated employment and innovation hub, and large centralized urban park that utilizes water as a unifying design element. West District, a Truman legacy project, is a model case study in smart growth and represents an optimistic future of how communities can reinvent and reshape themselves for a new sustainable future.
